Aenos at Bolsena, raise your glasses and….. cheers!

After having traveled around the world, Alessandro Casciani has returned to his birthplace in Bolsena, where he has opened the Enoteca AEnos, which would put a smile even on the faces of Beppe Fenoglio and Bonaventura Tecchi.
The Enoteca AEnos is situated in the heart of the historic centre of Bolsena, in an old medieval palace. The stone entrance shows the head of a fawn inviting you to come in. Facing the Enoteca is the Palazzo Monaldeschi della Cervara, which can be reached by crossing the wooden draw bridge; to the right of the Enoteca AEnos is the Chiesa del Santissimo Salvatore, and to the left you can see the Palazzo Del Drago, residence of the Prince.
To finish the picture, there are antiche stairs of copper stone, contributing a romantic look to the Enoteca.
The Enoteca AEnos was inaugurated 7 years ago after a long period of restoration carried out with full respect for its rustic interior where over 100 labels of quality wine from Lazio to Tuscany to Umbria are displayed and organised like books in a library.
Follow the steep rung stairs underground to the wine cellar and you will find yourself in an esoteric atmosphere. “I want to promote and show off the value of quality wines originating from these Etruscan lands and to become the ambassador of quality wine,” declares the 50-year-old Alessandro in an interview with the BaccoeTabacco magazine. There is enthusiasm; there is passion for his home town of bolsena, a place he dearly missed during his years of voluntary expatriation.
But above all, there is determination; the resolution to bring to fruition a project which will be further expanded to offer various labels of wines to the aficionados of Bacco, coming from every angle of Tuscia, and to visitors from England, Germany, Austria, Holland, Norway and Belgium.
AEnos wine bar boasts an impressive list of labels from Bolgheri Sassicaia, Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti, Morellino di Scansano, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano per la Toscana; Calanco, Montefalco Sagrantino, Torgiano Rosso, Orvieto Bianco for l’Umbria; Grechetto, Aleatico di Gradoli, Est,Est,Est, Volgente Rosso, Canuleio Bianco for Lazio.
The Enoteca is an integral part of the enological culture of the Regione, modelling itself after the historical enoteca from Rome (Enoteca Ferrara, Roscioli, Trimani), where you can enjoy the evening under the spirit of Bacco in the company of Alessandro, the rediscovered wine connoisseur.
